Age & Young Person Policy.
11+ DAYTIME • UNDER-18s MUST BE ACCOMPANIED • EVENING PARTY 18+ FROM 8PM
Daytime festival
The daytime portion of The Paranormal Festival is open to guests aged 11 and over.
Guests under the age of 11 are not permitted to attend and will be refused entry on arrival, including when accompanied by an adult.
Guests aged 11–17
All guests aged 11–17 must attend with and remain accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult aged 18 or over throughout their attendance at the daytime festival.
The responsible adult must remain on the event premises and be reasonably available to supervise the young person at all times.
Young people must not be left to independently wander around the festival, venue, exhibition areas or activities without their accompanying responsible adult.
We take the safety of children and young people very seriously. If a guest aged 11–17 is found on their own, a member of staff will stay with them until they are reconnected with their accompanying adult. For safety reasons, the young person and their accompanying adult will then be asked to leave the festival.
Where removal occurs because the attendee or accompanying adult has breached the clearly stated event rules, refunds will not normally be provided, subject always to applicable consumer law and statutory rights.
Content warning
The Paranormal Festival is an event centred around paranormal, supernatural, spiritual, historical and occult subjects.
Parents and responsible adults should carefully consider whether the event is appropriate for the individual young person attending.
The festival may include:
- Paranormal, supernatural and occult themes
- Allegedly haunted objects and artefacts
- Discussions surrounding ghosts, death and the afterlife
- References to death, violence, tragedy or disturbing historical events
- Frightening, disturbing or potentially graphic imagery
- Dark environments
- Loud or sudden sounds
- Theatrical or atmospheric effects
- Paranormal investigation equipment and demonstrations
- Spiritual or mediumship-related content
- Mature conversations or subject matter
- Occasional strong or explicit language from speakers, performers, exhibitors or other attendees
- Content that some guests may personally find disturbing, frightening, controversial or offensive
Because this is a live event involving independent speakers, exhibitors, creators, investigators and attendees, The Paranormal Festival cannot guarantee that every statement, discussion, image, exhibit or piece of content encountered during the event will be appropriate for every young person.
The accompanying adult is responsible for deciding whether the festival and individual talks, exhibits, activities and experiences are appropriate for the young person in their care.
If an accompanying adult considers any content unsuitable, frightening or distressing for the young person, they should remove them from that particular activity or area.
Individual age-restricted experiences
General admission to the daytime festival does not automatically guarantee access to every individual activity or experience.
Certain talks, demonstrations, exhibits, rooms, experiences or activities may carry their own higher age restriction, such as 14+, 16+ or 18+, where appropriate.
These restrictions must be respected even where a young person is accompanied by an adult.
Any additional restriction will be clearly displayed wherever reasonably practicable.
18+ evening party
The designated late-evening party runs from 8PM until late and is STRICTLY 18+.
Guests under the age of 18 must leave the designated party area before it begins at 8PM.
If an adult wishes to stay for the evening party but has attended with someone under 18, both must leave the festival, unless the young person can leave safely and is collected by another accompanying adult aged 18+.
Being accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult does NOT allow an under-18 to remain within or enter the designated 18+ party area.
Valid photographic identification may be requested where reasonably necessary to verify age.
Anyone unable to provide satisfactory proof of age when requested may be refused access to an age-restricted area.
